Position Overview

We are seeking a talented ‘Intelligence Engineer / Data Scientist’ to provide an exceptional level of technical and domain support to our clients, you will have the opportunity to support the world’s most innovative sporting organizations across a range of sports including in the NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB, NHL, NCAA, Soccer, Rugby etc. You will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and goals and help them leverage Gemini’s platform to empower their decision-making. You are passionate about drawing actionable insights from data, obsess over our customers, and love solving a broad range of data problems.

Essential Duties:

Included, but not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with clients to understand their data requirements and business objectives, help them use AI to optimize their workflows

• Build scalable, efficient, and fast data pipelines and machine-learning models

• Support the sales team in developing presentations and proposals as the technical expert to bring in new partnerships

• Onboarding new partners from signature through renewal, as main POC on implementation

• Advise on technical issues as they arise, working with Product and Engineering on solutions

• Communicate with key internal & external stakeholders; be the voice of the customer

• Stay informed of sports data industry trends and solutions to inform product development

• Represent Gemini at various conferences, events etc, you will be a thought leader in sports data analytics and help us build our awesome brand

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in Data Science or related field

• Experience working with sports data, (i.e Tracking Data, Event Data, Performance Data)

• Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques, such as regression, clustering, decision trees and neural networks

• Proficiency in Python, or R and SQL

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment and comfort in the fun chaotic nature of an early stage startup. 

• Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in both written and verbal forms

• Ability to translate business requirements to technical specifications

• Ability to travel to visit clients regularly, working independently with little oversight and direction

• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a team in a Professional or Collegiate sporting team

• Comfort speaking to and working with Coaches, General Managers, Scouting / Recruitment and Performance/Medical staff and an understanding of the problems they are trying to solve

• Proficiency in data visualizations and reporting tools such as Powerbi and Tableau

• Experience with data engineering tasks such as data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), data warehousing and data integration

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as SnowFlake, AWS, Azure, S3, GitHub etc

• Experience with RestAPI integrations
